What to Expect During Your Visit
Every consultation is personalized to meet you and your baby's unique needs. My goal is to provide compassionate, evidence-based care while helping you feel confident, supported, and empowered throughout your feeding journey.
Before Your Visit
-
Complete Your Intake Forms- Prior to your appointment, you'll receive a secure intake form to complete. This allows me to review your medical history, your baby's feeding history, and any concerns or goals you'd like to discuss before I arrive. By the time we meet, I'll already have a good understanding of your situation, allowing us to spend less time gathering information and more time focusing on you and your baby.

-
If Possible, Time Your Baby's Feeding- If your baby's needs allow, please try to avoid a full feeding for 60–90 minutes before our appointment. This gives us the best opportunity to observe a complete feeding together, assess latch and positioning, and perform a weighted feed to measure milk transfer. That said, your baby's needs always come first. If your little one is hungry before I arrive, please feed them! We can absolutely adjust our plan, and your consultation will still be just as valuable.

-
Have Your Feeding Supplies Available- If you're using a breast pump, bottles, nipple shields, supplemental nursing system, or any other feeding supplies, please have them nearby. We can assess your current equipment, answer questions, and make recommendations if needed.

-
Family Members Are Welcome- Partners, grandparents, or anyone who plays an important role in your feeding journey are welcome to join the visit. Having your support system involved can help everyone feel more confident and informed.

-
Pets- If you have family pets, I kindly ask that they be kept in a separate room during our visit. Even the sweetest, most well-behaved pets can become protective when someone unfamiliar is closely interacting with their newest family member. This helps create a calm, safe environment where we can focus on you and your baby.
During Your Visit
Every family is different, so your consultation is tailored to your specific goals and concerns. Depending on your needs, your visit may include:
-
A comprehensive feeding assessment to observe your baby's latch, positioning, milk transfer, and overall feeding patterns.
 -
A hands-on assessment (always with your consent) to evaluate breastfeeding mechanics, identify challenges, and provide gentle guidance to improve comfort and feeding effectiveness.
 -
A weighted feeding using a high-sensitivity infant scale that I bring to every visit. By weighing your baby before and after a feeding, we can accurately measure how much milk your baby transfers during that feeding.
 -
Flange sizing using a nipple measuring tool to determine the most appropriate breast pump flange size for improved comfort and pumping efficiency.
 -
Personalized education and practical support tailored to your family's goals and your baby's needs.
 -
A customized care plan with clear recommendations and realistic next steps you can begin implementing right away.
 -
Time for your questions. Whether you're concerned about latch, milk supply, pumping, bottle feeding, returning to work, weaning, or simply want reassurance, there is plenty of time for discussion.
Â
Throughout the visit, we'll follow your baby's lead. Babies often need breaks for diaper changes, cuddles, soothing, or simply a moment to reset. There's no pressure and no rush—our time together is designed to support both you and your baby.
My Goal
Breastfeeding and infant feeding can feel overwhelming at times, but you don't have to navigate it alone. My goal is to provide compassionate, evidence-based care in a judgment-free environment where you feel heard, supported, and empowered. By the end of your visit, I hope you'll not only have answers to today's questions, but also the confidence, knowledge, and practical tools to continue meeting your family's feeding goals long after our time together.
